November Foodie Penpals Reveal

Posted on by Susan Posted in Foodie Penpals | 3 Comments

Hey friends, how are you?

Our little man is sick and we are heading out to see the Dr. but he decided to squeeze in a little nap (much needed because he was up all night :( ), so I thought I take this opportunity to share my November Foodie Penpals goodies with you.

I am so lucky, because my partner, Candice, sent me one of the most amazing – if not the best –  packages I have received as of yet. When she asked me what I liked I told her about my love for chocolate and all things spicy and that’s what she sent me! Honestly, she really put a great box together for me, I am so excited to share it with you.

Clockwise: cinnamon sticks, maple fudge and maple spiced nuts, Szechuan pepper stir fry sauce (will be used in tonight’s dinner), and a few hot chocolate mixes!

Creme Brulee Hot Chocolate

Double Chocolate Truffle Hot Chocolate, complete with a disposable to-go cup and a cute little whisk ornament. :)

And then I found these two pouches of espresso sugar and merlot infused sea salt:

Am I excited to try these out?? You bet!

And as if this wasn’t enough, she also included a huge jar full of homemade granola!

Candice, I cannot thank you enough for this month’s fantastic package! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Blog Award + Foodie Penpals Reveal Day + WIAW

Happy Halloween!

Are you up to some trick-or-treating shenanigans?

This past week has been slightly crazy for me. Busy as usual and a whole bunch of fantastic things to share with you.

1. Blog Award

I want to thank Maria from Little Miss Cornucopia for giving my blog the Super Sweet Blogging Award last week! I feel so honoured that not only someone recognized my little blog, but that she also shared it with her own readers! Thanks, Maria!!!

2. Foodie Penpals

We’re off to the mall for some indoor trick-or-treating and Halloween fun, but I still wanted to share this past month’s Foodie Penpals treats with you.

My partner for October was Krista and she sent me a fantastic package:

  • Barkeley’s Chocolate Truffle bar

  • Chickpea snacks & Cheddar crispies

  • Italian spice mix & Chai tea (unpictured/hidden on the first photo)

Thank you, Krista, for the time to put together this lovely package! The chocolate bar didn’t last very long and the cheddar crispies were devoured by me and my 14-month old!

For more info on Foodie Penpals, or if you want to join, don’t forget check out Lindsay’s blog The Lean Green Bean.

3. What I Ate Wednesday

Ok, so time clearly is not a friend of mine lately, so I just did not manage to snap pics of a whole day’s worth of eats, so this week will be WIAW “Lunch Edition”, featuring some of my lunches of the past week.

Grilled Cheese (completely unexpected, right.. :) ) and greens:

If you’re looking for ways to make your grilled cheese sandwich more interesting, you can check out *this post* .

Amy’s cheese burrito, apple/my 14-month old son’s lunch/more grilled cheese, apple, hardboiled egg:

Squash gnocchi and crispy sage butter with parmesan on winter greens (kale, collards, chard):

This was probably my favourite lunch of the week so far. :)

If you want to see what other bloggers ate for What I Ate Wednesday, don’t forget to check out Jenn’s blog Peas & Crayons.

We’re off for some trick-or-treating and candy-collecting!

Do you have anything fun planned for today?

Happy Halloween!

Giveaway Winner & Foodie Penpals Reveal Day

Hey Friends, Happy October!

Time for fall treats, warm drinks, boots (!!!) and walks under red and yellow leaved trees.

But first things first:

Thank you so much for all of you who entered for the Swedish Treats Giveaway! The Winner is #26.

Congratulations, hannahviolin! I will email you shortly, to get the treats over to you as fast as possible!

Oh, and in case you were wondering: My blog theme does not automatically number comments, so I wrote each one of them down and numbered them (plus added an extra entry for Twitter followers, as announced on the giveaway post).

And yeah, I’m technologically challenged. ;)

Ok, back to October!

It feels like I haven’t taken part in Foodie Penpals since ages, but actually I only sat out for a month.

Anyways, I’m back, and today is Reveal Day for September Foodie Penpals!

My partner for September was Jacqueline from Cooking with Jax and she sent me such an awesome package, when I opened it I almost couldn’t believe what I saw! So many of my favourites!

  • Earl Grey tea
  • Hot Cranberry Apple Cider (new to me!)
  • Granola (with hemp seeds, also new to me!)
  • Cocoa nibs!!!
  • Homemade vanilla sugar – I frequently make this myself, but I’ve been out for a while, so she sent this to me at the perfect time!
  • Vanilla beans!

The granola is fantastic and actually I already finished most of it! :-o

In her letter, Jacqueline suggested to put some cocoa nibs in with the ground coffee for flavour, and I have to admit I was slightly nervous that I’d clog the filter part (drain?) of my coffee maker, but let me tell you this is delicious! With a little teaspoon of her vanilla sugar and some milk this tasted just like a less sweet and artificial version of a Mocha at any coffee house!

You can find some fantastic desserts on Jacqueline’s blog (Sea Salted Brownies, anyone?), so don’t forget to head over and check it out!

Thank you Jacqueline, the package arrived at the perfect time right before baking season kicks off and you totally hit the spot with the goodies!
