Old Snacks, New Snacks & What I Ate Wednesday

Hey everyone!

Happy hump day! It’s time for another What I Ate Wednesday post.

Peas and Crayons

Lately it seems like all I’m posting are my eats of the day, but it’s been a busy/crazy few days over here. In addition to being out most of the day, to enjoy our lovely summer, we had to do some paperwork that’s been way too late already.

Pair that with a 10.5 month old, who suddenly decided that sleep is not fun at all, ever, and especially not at night and you can imagine my rings under my eyes. We actually had to take a walk around the block at midnight a couple of days ago, in order to make our son fall asleep in the carrier. Today he fell asleep at 10 PM, and I’m ready to get some shut-eye as well.

But first, here are today’s eats: some old favourites, some new finds, all delicious!

Breakfast:

plain yogurt, kamut puffs, raspberries

Lunch:

I was starving and we were low on groceries. All I could find, was a can of chickpeas, so I decided to make some hummus and defrosted a pita bread.

Made with 'Georgian Fire', the king of garlics, fresh from the farmer's market!

I actually ate some of the hummus straight up with a spoon, while waiting for my pita to defrost. And I was way too lazy tired to chop up some veggies, so there were very few greens on my plate today… :-o

Just a spoonful of hummus…

Snacks/treats:

Blood Orange 'Bucha

organic apricots from the farmer's market

Who could possibly resist cookie dough ice cream??

There was also a delicious, but unpictured latte from the New West River Market.

Dinner:

One of the usual suspects…

Pasta Bolognese

Another food-filled day gone by – time really flies!

Workouts: Does rocking/swinging an 8.5 kg baby to sleep for 45 minutes count as a workout? That and the usual walking, walking, walking.

I’ve been pretty bad at meal planning lately, so I definitely need to step up my game and plan some meals. Tomorrow is easy: Swedish Thursday = Split Pea Soup and Pancakes.

Now if you excuse me, I have to go and get some more ice cream sleep. :)

Cheers!

What I Ate Wednesday-Thursday

Hi friends, how are you?

Hope you Americans had a great 4th of July, wherever you are and whatever you are doing! :) I actually celebrated 1st of July (Canada Day for you non-Canadians) with a trip to our local park/playground where a little party was held.

Had an unpictured red and white mini cupcake and a hamburger (both of which were not very good, by the way…)

Anyway, back to yesterday’s today’s main event. Lately I’ve stumbled upon multiple bloggers sharing their eats of the day (which is what my blog is often about, too), so I decided to  invite myself and take part in What I ate Wednesday and share my meals with you. This helps me re-focus the blog on food and healthy eats again, which have been missing here lately.

Peas and Crayons

My life has been a little chaotic and unfocused lately, but I really want to make an effort to eat healthy this summer. Here are my eats for WIAW, and the theme for July is fun, food and fitness.

Let’s starts with the food:

Breakfast was something I haven’t had in a while: red, white and blue steel cut oats.

Oats with strawberries, blueberries and almond milk and a cup of coffee

Lunch was quick and easy:

Sandwich with avocado, cave-aged Gruyere, greens and Bavarian sweet mustard

Along with a glass of lemon water.

I have to constantly remind myself to drink more water!!!

Dinner:

Chili (mostly organic ingredients) on top of a baked yam and side salad

For the fun part I thought I’d share my son’s meals. He’s 10 months old now and eat most things. He’s a foodie. :)

Steel-cut oats with applesauce and cinnamon…

a few pieces of cheese and about 1/3 of a mango…

plain organic yogurt…

half a banana…

… and an unpictured dinner of rice, squash and apple mash.Oh, and there were a few arrowroot cookies as well. Both for him and myself. :D

Fitness was a walk along the seawall and carrying groceries home. No car grocery shopping = weights lifting session, right?!?

What I Ate Wednesday was created by Jenn who blogs at Peas and Crayons.

Ok friends, I’m off to check out the Royal City Farmers Market – see you soon!

Rainy Day Off

Hey hey hey! Happy Friday, everyone – hope you had a fabulous week, so far!

Tomorrow is Saturday, which means Farmers Market!!!

I’m hoping to pick up some fresh fruit and veggies, and maybe grab a bite from the food carts at the market. The last few times we went to the market, we ended up walking home (15km!!!), so that may be on the list for tomorrow again. Gotta work out somehow, right? ;)

And since it’s raining today, I decided to stay in for a bit to do some much needed cleaning and de-cluttering. We’ve been out and about like crazy lately and I really need to catch up at home. Diaper laundry (3x), baby laundry, mommy&daddy laundry, dishwasher (does anyone else feel like all they do is load/unload the dishwasher all day? At least we have one…) & vacuuming. Well, the roomba Goomba vacuumed for me. :)

Although it’s rainy today, we enjoyed the first few days of June with some summery bites:

meatballs, roasted potatoes and asparagus

Lunch of the week:

Bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, sprouts and Swedish gravlax sauce & a side of yogurt

Desserts:

Mini Kladdkakor

Celebrations:

Moet & Chandon

 And naps:

Snuggle!

Don’t worry, the champagne was not the reason my son fell asleep!! ;) I enjoyed my glass of champagne after the little guy went to bed some night last week, because we celebrated the completion of our PR paperwork!

I’m off to make myself some lunch and do some more cleaning.

What are your plans for this Saturday and Sunday? Mine are definitely Trout Lake Farmers Market, a workout and maybe going to the pool!

Enjoy your weekend!
