I had some serious need for chocolate this past weekend, and since it was my birthday I decided to just go for it.
Chocolate in cake form, to be exact. I made a Kladdkaka (Sticky Cake), but to change things up I added extra sea salt to my usual recipe.
Served with homemade caramel sauce and another sprinkle of sea salt. It’s so easy to make and delicious to serve if you have guests. Or for your Valentine.
Here’s my go-to recipe:
- 150 ml melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1.5 Tsp. vanilla sugar
- 4 Tsp. cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl (yes, you just need 1 single bowl!) with a rubber spatula until they reach a creamy, chocolatey cake batter consistancy.
Pour into a greased springform pan
Bake at 380° F for 25-35 minutes. The inside of the center should still be sticky soft (but not liquid) and sometimes a nice cracked crust forms on top.
Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar and serve with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
Or, in my case, with salted caramel sauce.
And if you aren’t suffering from chocolate overload yet, keep on reading.
You can enter to win 5 (five!) Dubbel Nougat bars from Sweden!
This is probably the most decadent nougat/chocolate bar I have ever eaten. Two layers of silky nougat, one light and one dark.
I also realized that you can make a delicious hot chocolate by melting a whole bar in hot milk – add some coffee for a nougat mocha.
And I’ll also throw in a $10 Starbuck’s giftcard. You know, so you can take your Valentine for coffee and share a Dubbel Nougat or two.
Here’s how you can enter:
- Leave a comment below with your favourite Chocolate recipe.
- For a second entry, tweet about the giveaway: “Enter to win 5 Dubbel Nougat chocolate bars & a $10

I’ve *ordered* them from our family in Sweden to share with friends here in Vancouver, and I’d simply love to share some of the nougat-ey awesomeness with my readers as well! Open to US & Canada. I will randomly pick a winner on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013 at midnight. Winner will be announced on the morning of February 15th!
So, what is your favourite chocolate treat? Mine is defineltely Kladdkaka!!

Oh Susan!
There’s two of my all time chocolate favorites right there! In fact, I’m known among family and friends for making a pretty incredible kladdkaka. Must confess I’ve actually finished a WHOLE kladdkaka, on my own, in one night at least once… Yes, I’m a kladdkaka/chocolate lover. I’m definitely going to try your sea salt
And Dubbelnougat… One of the chocolate bars I always get when back home in Sweden when I need a little treat. Terrible for my skin (maybe the worst of all chocolate things) but OH SO TASTY!
I love to see some Swedish things here. Makes me smile big (and get just a little extra homesick – but in a good way). Thank you!
Ohhh, I may or may not have eaten this entire Kladdkaka… THANK YOU for entering and GOOD LUCK!!!
